Boston Studies Disparity in City Contracting, Seeks Citizen, Business Input
The City of Boston is committed to the full and equal participation of minority-owned businesses and women-owned businesses in City contracting. This week the City is holding a number of meetings seeking citizen and business owner input as Boston seeks to achieve full and equal contracting participation goals. The City is also soliciting on-line comments, with all the information gathered to be placed into a Disparity Study that will be used as a guideline to meet its policy goals on contracting. More information can be obtained by going to boston.gov/disparity-study
The initiative features three Business Outreach meetings, during which residents and business owners are urged to speak up about City contracting process challenges. The first meeting is November 7, 2019, from 8 am until 10 am at Viet Aid, 42 Charles Street, Dorchester. Also on November 7, a Business Outreach meeting will be held at JPNDC, 31 Germania Street, Jamaica Plain. On Friday, November 8, the meeting will move to Roxbury: the Business Outreach session will be held 8 am - 10 am, Black Market Dudley, 2136 Washington Street. Written testimony is also being solicited from those unable to attend one of the three meetings; send your comments to [email protected]
Boston Water and Sewer Commission, which is also committed to diversity and inclusion and which regularly hosts certification workshops for minority- and women-owned businesses seeking contracts with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, fully supports the City of Boston's efforts to secure full and equal participation in City contracting.
